Backlit!

Hi all,
I have been trying to figure out how to back light a sign successfully to no avail.
I tried initially with light behind the sign but this was the result.

It looks awful and just didn't work well. So I was sitting thinking, and it hit me! I could just use an alpha'd plane with a blurred version of the Koma sign on it, make it white,  and place it behind the sign and here is the result.

I am extremely happy with this as it has been annoying me for some time.
There are no lights at all on the second image, that is just a plane with an alpha texture on it. I'm so glad it worked.
